An analyst who ships his own tools.
I am Anchit Mittal. I have an MBA and I work in financial planning and analysis — and I write the code too. Anchit Labs is where the things I build live, and increasingly where I take on work.
The useful bit is the overlap: plenty of people can read a P&L, plenty can build software, and not many do both. Everything here sits in that overlap.
What I am focused on now
Three lines of work, in the order they matter to me. They are not equally far along, and I would rather say so than pretend the site is a finished business.
1. Finance tools and spreadsheet systems
This is the main thing, and the one I expect to carry the rest. I build financial models that open on a dashboard instead of a wall of cells — a monthly budget with budget-versus-actual and a savings forecast, a debt payoff model that compares snowball against avalanche, a wedding planner with nine linked sheets, a Christmas gift tracker. All of them are free to download, in Excel and Google Sheets, with sample data already filled in.
They are free deliberately. They are the sample, not the service: the work I want is building the same thing around somebody else's numbers. Where a sheet needs real automation — a form that writes into it, exchange rates refreshed on a schedule, a settle-up that recalculates itself — that is Google Apps Script, and the Multi-Currency Travel Tracker is the demonstration: ten tabs, a branching Google Form, triggers and twenty-four unit tests.
2. Games
Two of them, written by hand on an HTML5 canvas with no engine, so they load in a second on any phone and need no app store. Chain Dunk is one-touch endless basketball, playable now and in testing on Google Play. Life Is Unfair is a troll platformer with three worlds built — School, Date and Job — and an early build you can play today. Games are the part of this I do because I want to, but they also prove something a client cares about: that I can take a project from a blank file to something people will actually use.
3. Web tools and search
Nine small tools run on this domain, and the Baby Name Finder is the one that taught me search: 10,085 names and 66 guide pages, all generated from one dataset, each page with its own copy, schema and internal links. How I work
- Formulas where formulas are enough, scripts where they earn their place. A template somebody else has to maintain should not need permissions. A system that has to collect data from five people does.
- Static by default. No framework you will have to upgrade, no database you will have to pay for. This whole site is flat files that deploy themselves on every push.
- Generated, not hand-typed. The guide pages, the sitemap, the schema, the homepage cards — all built from one manifest. Adding a product is one entry in a file.
- Checked before it ships. Two scripts run over every page before a deploy: one for titles, descriptions, schema and internal links, one for dead links, accessible names, heading order and page weight.
Where this is going
Honestly: it started as a side project and is turning into something I would like to do properly. The spreadsheet tools are the bet — they match what I am trained in, people search for them, and they lead somewhere that pays. The games keep me interested. The web tools pay for the hosting. Privacy and ads
Every tool here runs in your browser; nothing you type is uploaded anywhere. The site uses Google Analytics to count visits and shows Google ads to cover hosting — the privacy policy explains exactly what that means and how to opt out.
